5/1/99 — the red tape at blacks / mcewans

This tape was recorded in the spring of 1998 / around May 1999 in the early TDG days. The first four songs were recorded in John Hieronymus' bedroom, on a cassette player found under his sister's bed. The front panel had fallen off, so they had to hold the cassette in with a piece of tape. Very lo-fi, but a pretty good demo of early TDG.

The other songs were recorded in Andy Black's garage. John's acoustic and voice were mic'd; Andy had keyboard and vocals mic'd. Scott refused to mic his amp (claimed the tones would come through anyway) — that's why you can't hear him. "One String Guitar" sounds really good for a cassette recording.
